Juliana Gomez-Arostegui

Dr. Juliana Gomez-Arostegui is a dedicated and accomplished medical professional who specializes in pediatric cardiology and pediatrics. Having a diverse background in clinical practice, medical education, and patient care, Dr. Gomez-Arostegui has made significant contributions to the field of healthcare.
 

She currently serves as an Assistant Professor of Pediatric Cardiology at the Rady Children's Hospital in San Diego, UCSD, where she brings her expertise to a dynamic academic environment. She cares for patients in both the inpatient and outpatient settings. Between 2004 and 2011, Dr. Juliana Gomez-Arostegui served as a pediatric hospitalist in the San Francisco Bay Area, working in two county hospitals. At Santa Clara Valley Medical Center (SCVMC), she held the position of inpatient attending, overseeing patients in the pediatric ward and the level III neonatal intensive care unit in collaboration with Stanford University pediatric residents. Concurrently, she also worked
at a county hospital in Marin, as part of a small group of pediatric hospitalists providing 24-hour hospital coverage, demonstrating their dedication to ensuring the well-being of pediatric patients in all hospital settings.


Dr. Gomez-Arostegui's career has been built upon an emphasis on education and academic excellence. She holds a Medical Doctorate from the University of Colorado School of Medicine and a Master of Public Health degree from Boston University, with a concentration in Health Ethics and Law. In addition, she holds several professional
certifications and licenses, including Diplomate status with the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP) and membership with the American Academy of Pediatrics and Cardiology. She also completed her Pediatric Cardiology Fellowship at the Rady Children's Hospital at the University of California at San Diego. In recognition of her academic excellence, compassion, and integrity, she received the Henry C. Kempe Honorary Award. She maintains double board certification in Pediatric Cardiology and General Pediatrics.
Dr. Gomez-Arostegui's contributions extend beyond the teaching and hospital settings.


She is an active member of various professional committees, including the Rady Children’s Hospital Bioethics and Joint Quality and Credentialing Committees. Moreover, Dr. Gomez-Arostegui is also the Rady Physician Champion for the Ollie Hinkle Foundation and for the PC4/PAC3 Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Committee. Her commitment to medical education is evident by way of her formal teaching of fellows, residents, and medical students, serving as a mentor in the UCSD Master Clinician Program, as well as by her participation in invited lectures and oral presentations.
